When the call came about a month ago that Dollard des Ormeaux artist Denise Buisman Pilger was being invited to show her work at the Louvre in Paris, France as part of the Canadian delegation, she could not find words right away to express her gratitude.

Buisman Pilger, a visual artist, had reached a stage in her career where the work she sold enabled her to purchase the costs of making her art. “Well, at least 75 percent of it anyway,” Buisman Pilger told The Suburban. But now that the artist will be showcasing her work in one of the most prestigious museums in the world, Buisman Pilger is looking forward to the networking opportunities when she goes to Paris for the Dec. 8 through 11 exhibition along with 235 other Canadian painters, sculptors and visual artists taking place in the Salle Le Nôtre at the Carrousel.

Her work, a surreal look at cities and landscapes, is inspired by Buisman Pilger’s love of photography and travel. Despite being excited about being included, Buisman Pilger found

The exhibition is part of an annual event when Paris hosts various delegations with Canada taking part in the last seven years. The opening ceremonies will be presided over by French President Nicolas Sarkozy.
