Spotting a woman in a traditional Kimono or summer Yukata is something that happens on a daily basis here in Japan, especially in places like Kyoto and Tokyo where it is common to rent traditional clothing for a day just to walk around the local temples. Like everyone else in the world Japanese people love to capture everything on their devices, there’s just such a juxtaposition when that perfect, prim Japanese lady in the immaculate Kimono whips out her cell phone to snap a selfie, I can’t help to be surprised and fascinated every time I see it happening.

This mixed media painting on authentic Japanese Washi paper, it is created using a combination of image transfer and acrylic paints and mediums. The artwork is shipped unframed, rolled in a tube, it is signed on the front and has title, date, artist name on the back. It comes with a signed certificate of authenticity from the artist
